The Henrietta Public Library is a community library in the Town of Henrietta, a suburb of the city of Rochester, NY. HPL has over 240,000 visits per year by people in the town as well as others from Monroe County.
The town is very proud of the library and supports the technological advances such as an integrated circulation (provided by the Monroe County Library System), up-to-date computer equipment, and a full range of services and materials for all ages. HPL has an active web site (www.hpl.org) and is an active entity in the community.
When we first heard about Empties4Cash, we were a little skeptical about just how valuable a fundraising resource it would be. Nevertheless, we put a notice in our local community paper that we were accepting empty printer cartridges. We were very surprised when the empties began to arrive, first in ones and twos then by the bagful that had been collected at workplaces.
Over the 3 years that we have been collecting the empties, we have earned over $2600.00! People are glad to help us in our fundraising. As well, we all feel good about joining the recycling efforts that are helping to make the planet a better place to live.
The colorful neon sign in the picture, as well as renovations to the Audio-Visual area were paid for with our profits from Empties4Cash. We are now saving and planning for a renovation to our children's area.
